Google Ads wasted spend calculator
Wasted spend is what search terms cost you without ever converting. Paste a 30-day search terms report, set your target CPA, and this counts every term that spent more than 1.5 times that target with at least 20 clicks and no conversion: the same rule as our audit check G-KW-01.

Exactly what this page computes
a term is waste when conversions = 0 and clicks ≥ 20 and cost > 1.5 × target CPA wasted spend = Σ cost of those terms share = wasted spend / total cost a year at this rate = wasted spend × 12
Our audit runs the same rule on a connected account as check G-KW-01: Search term wasting money.
How to read it
Why 1.5 times the target CPA?+
Below that, a term that has not converted yet may simply be unlucky: at your target CPA you expect one conversion per target CPA spent, so a term that has spent one and a half of them with nothing is past bad luck. The 20-click floor keeps a few expensive clicks from deciding it.
Where do I get the report?+
In Google Ads, open Insights and reports, then Search terms, set the last 30 days and download it as CSV, or select the table and copy it. The calculator reads the Search term, Clicks, Cost and Conversions columns wherever they are.
Does my data leave my browser?+
No. The calculation runs on this page; nothing you paste is sent anywhere.
Let the audit run this on your whole account.
